Tone & Depth is an independent buying guide for metal detectors, written and edited by Darío Collar.
Why it exists
Detector buying advice usually comes from two places: stores that sell the machines, and forum threads where the answer is buried on page nine. Both are useful, neither is a comparison. This site collects the specifications, the current prices and the recurring owner reports for the models people actually shortlist, and puts them side by side.
What we do
- Read the manufacturer’s specification and manual pages and note where they disagree with each other.
- Record store prices with the store and the date they were checked.
- Read owner reports on forums and video channels and cite them.
- Say plainly who each model is not for.
What we do not do
- We do not own, borrow or field-test the detectors we write about, and no article claims otherwise. If you see wording that sounds like a personal test, it is a mistake: tell us.
- We do not publish coupon codes or deal lists.
- We do not rank by commission. When a model is not sold by our affiliate partner, we link to the maker and say so.
Corrections
Prices and specifications change. Every article shows when it was last updated and when prices were last checked. If you find an error, write to us: corrections are made and dated.
